Annabeth Mellon is a 19-year-old writer, filmmaker, and activist. She graduated from the Alabama School of Fine Arts with a degree in Creative Writing and currently studies at the University of Alabama’s New College program. Her major is in Women’s and Film Studies and her minor is in Creative Media.
She was a 2014 runner-up in Hollins University’s Nancy Thorp Poetry Competition and her piece “Underworld” was published in that year’s edition of Cargoes. Her 2014 music video “Polaroids” received an honorable mention in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Her work deals with themes of sexuality, womanhood, body image, childhood, trauma, and imagination.
She is currently working on a manuscript entitled Somewhere Between Neverland and Here, a narrative collection of prose poetry and nonfiction, that she hopes to have published by the time she graduates college. Outside of creating art, she is an advocate for sexual health, gender equality, and LGBT+ rights.
