the first time my body quivered against  your touch

                                                          city lights exploded

darling the smell of your skin is

and i don’t ever wanna see the future

you are so young and i’m even younger

and my mama cried when she saw where you bit me

i work so hard to twirl my lashes

i hide behind pink petticoats and bows

but darling i’m dying

for the taste of smoke on your tongue

teacher told me i got potential

but i can write sonnets from the back of your car

i don’t ever wanna reach the sun
